On this Valentine’s day as I sit and reflect, my heart is filled with more love than I thought possible. I believe everyone’s heart can be filled with love if we CHOOSE it!
“And now these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” ~1 Corinthians 13:13
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” ~John 3:16
We can choose it because God has given and continues to give us more love than we can imagine! He shows us this love in His word, He commands us to love Him with our whole heart, and He commands us to love our neighbor.
And yet, I know there are those out there who aren’t feeling love. If you are one of those individuals, I encourage you to change your perspective. Open your mind and choose to see the love of God and the blessings He has given. I know they are there. It may not be big and obvious, it may be in the simple day to day moments that we are meant to savor.
So much focus on Valentine’s day is around the relationships between boyfriend and girlfriend or husband and wife. We are narrowing love too much when that is our only focus.
My perspective on Valentine’s day is many kinds of love.
The love I feel from our Heavenly Father through what He has promised and continues to give. This kind of love is there for everyone who chooses it!
The love I felt and continue to feel from my dad. He blessed me so much with His love that even though He is no longer physically present with me, I feel His love every single day.
The love I feel from my children. God blessed me with the opportunity to be a mother, step-mother, and grandmother. The love I receive from this blessed opportunity is overwhelming.
The love I feel from my husband is sacred to me. God blessed me with a Godly man to walk this life with me. I am grateful for this blessing each and every day.
The love I feel from my family and friends. This life is more rewarding and fulfilling with the love I have from a community of people who love, support and challenge me. I am grateful for each and every one of you!
God calls us to do this life with others. In community. I choose to look beyond the difficult and hard to a perspective that is filled with love and support. I encourage you to look in that place too!
Happy Valentine’s day from someone who loves you!
