What do you treasure most in your life? What do you spend most of your time doing? What do your goals revolve around?
I assume most of us treasure, set goals, and spend most of our time doing that which makes us happy. And yes, God wants us to be happy.
The thing is, our lives become so busy with our own wants, needs, and desires, that unless we are intentional in how we spend our time, our time with God gets put on the back burner.
Being intentional in our Christian walk means that we need to live our life with purpose. That purpose is to first and foremost, love God above all else.
Deuteronomy 6:5 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”
This is the core foundation of our human existence…to love God first. We are created to be in community with Him. If we put our own wants, needs, and desires above God, we cannot live our life to the fullest.
In July of 2010, my family lost my dad suddenly from a bee sting. In September of 2011, we lost my sister Sara from Ankylosing Spondylitis. In January of 2017, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I can tell you first hand that the minute I stray away from putting my focus first on Him, I am lost. Not only do I feel lost in life, but I also begin losing grip on all the “things” I am trying so hard to keep up with.
When I am not in community with Him, I am out of sync with reality.
I challenge you to be intentional in loving God above all else! God must be the center of your life. If He is the center of your life, He shouldn’t be put on the back burner because your life is busy with too many other commitments.
Make Him your first commitment and the rest will fall into place….I promise and so does He!
